Lotus flower tattoo sayings?

Question: Lotus flower tattoo sayings?

(Posted by: takemebreakme2 on 2008-11-17 22:59:28)

I'm getting a lotus flower tattooed on my back, and I want it to say something underneath it. The reason I'm getting it is because I had a tough past, and wasnt a person that I liked, like a lotus flower who is born from the mud and crawls its way to the surface to become a flower. So I want something short and sweet written in Kanjii underneath. The main idea I had was "Beauty born from the mud " or " I left my past in the depths " Does anyone have any sayings that help express what Im trying to show.

Each petal formed a beauty/ Each petal forms a beauty-Relating to each gradual step it took you to get where you are now. Beauty from pain (Although those are lyrics from Superchick-Beauty from pain...not sure how you feel about that) Or something as simple as- Awake to the New Spring- Meaning, that in spring, that is when most life is born, so I guess it could symbolize rebirth also. So I'm basically trying to decribe it as you have put your past behind you, and are starting a new better life. The waves wash away what has been-...Actually inspired by your "I left my past in the depths ". It's basically the same meaning. Also you could twist some of the ideas around to fit what you want. ...Hope I helped. And by the way, I think it's a really nice idea about the tattoo.

My first tattoo was a lotus flower = ) You could use the Kanji symbols for Beauty and Wisdom? Seeing as how Pain only makes you stronger and wiser as you go through life. Try going to about.com and doing a search for Kanji? Or maybe different languages? Or perhaps you could have a phoenix rising out of the lotus flower? With no Kanji or phrase needed after that . Or just go in and talk to an artist, Make sure to ask for a portfolio so you know what you're getting into. Never be afraid to ask questions, Tattoo artist are there for that reason. To make you feel comfortable and give you a good tattoo. Basically. Its your body so Honestly it should be something that means the world to you not us. Only you knew what you went through. And The close meaning behind your tattoo. Whatever you decide Be cautious of who let you let tattoo you. Any good artist keeps a portfolio know what you're getting into. Good Luck

Why Kanji? If your first language is English you should get it in English. I never understand the compulsion people have to get tattoos in languages they don't speak.
